A Proven Project
Councillor.info arose out of research, by the Local Government Association, into why more authorities were not setting up websites for their Councillors. The research highlighted a number of obstacles that hindered even those authorities committed to the idea.
In 2002 Fused Technologies (as Poptech) began working with a group of ten Councils to design a solution that would overcome these obstacles. The project was launched a year later by the LGA and the first new partners came on-board in autumn 2003.
In July 2005 Councillor.info was chosen for inclusion in the North East Connects "Framework Agreement for Local Democracy Software" managed by Sunderland City Council. This agreement covers 25 councils in the North East of England.
