User FAQ
Whilst Click2Build is exceptionally easy to use, below are some of frequently asked questions
I've logged into the SiteFramework Lite Administration Area but can't see all of the tree. Why is this?
The administration area is designed to work on Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) or later versions or Firefox. If you are using a browser version lower than this you may only be able to see parts of the tree.
How can I find out if I am using IE6?
- Open your browser
- Go to help
- Go to About Internet Explorer
- A pop up box will appear telling you what version of browser you are using
What is the tree?
The tree is a visual representation of your website structure. It is the system that enables you to organise your website. It is similar to the filing system on your PC as it contains a list of top-level folders. These are the nodes that make up your website. They can be opened and have objects or sub-folders added.
When you expand the tree you can see that the navigation structure is exactly the same as at the front end of the site.
How can I expand and collapse the tree?
You can expand the tree by clicking on the arrow sign next to each of the Nodes. When the tree is expanded click on the arrow to collapse that section.
What is a node?
A node is an element or object within the website tree. Each node has particular attributes that determine the content displayed within the web page.
What is a child node?
The child node is a sub-level within the tree that is directly related to the parent node that it devolves from.
How do I add a child node to the tree?
- Right click on the node you wish to add a child node to.
- A list of node types (objects) will display
- Click on the type of node you wish to add (news, webpage, etc)
- A form is then displayed. Complete the fields required in the form and then submit
- Your new node will appear in the tree
My added node did not appear where I wanted it to in the tree. Why?
Each added node has a position field where you can choose the position within the tree. If you don't select a position the node goes to the last position in the tree.
Go to edit node and check the position - if the position is not correct then choose this from the drop down list. Remember the node will sit in the tree before the node you have selected.
How do I edit a node?
Any details added to a node can be easily edited by right-clicking on the node and selecting edit. The form that you previously completed will appear. Here you can change any details about this node.
Whoops! I just deleted a node. Can I restore it?
To delete a node you must right-click on the node and select delete whereupon you will be asked if you are sure you wish to delete. If you still manage to accidentally delete a node you will be able to retrieve it from the recycle bin.
How do I restore a node from the recycle bin?
- Choose to add a child node under the parent node within the tree where you wish to restore your deleted item.
- Choose add existing node from within the list of nodes displayed.
- This will open a pop up window displaying the tree.
- Open the recycle bin (usually at the bottom of the tree) and select the node you have deleted.
- This will restore the deleted node to the correct place within the tree.
What is an archived item? How does it work? Why can't I add an archived item node?
An item is stored in the archive after it is removed from the website. This is usually after a pre-determined set time to be displayed on the web pages, where after it will be viewable in the archived items section. You cannot add an archived item node to the tree as this function is configured during the development of the website.
I have added a webpage but I can't see it on the front end
This may be because a template was not selected for the webpage or a wrong template was selected. This is the most common explanation for the non-appearance of a page.
For example you intended for the webpage to accommodate items of type product but selected an information template rather than a products template.
What is a collection?
A collection is a node type mainly used as an organisational unit to store group of items/node types. E.g. a collection called resources might be created to store the uploaded images or files.
Some times collections with pre-determined functionality (customised) are used to behave in a certain way. For example, a collection called Right Column will be used to display items added to it to show on the right-hand side of a webpage.
How do I create a collection?
- Right Click on the node and select add child node
- Choose collection
- Complete the form
- Click submit
What is a label?
A label used on a node as a flag so that it can't be deleted. (Labelled items are referenced by other parts of the site and can’t be deleted for internal integrity reasons.)
What is Node Text?
Node Text is a title given to a node in the SiteFramework Lite view.
What is a Title?
A title is similar to the Node Text with the difference that it will appear on the public view/front-end of the website.
What is a position?
A position will set the position of the node within the level it is in. Select a node that you wish your item to appear before them on the tree.
- A window will appear displaying the CMS tree.
- Navigate to the desired node and click on the node text to share.
- The item should be added to the node (bottom of the list).
- Refresh the page if you don't readily see the shared node.
What is a template?
It controls the layout and display of the content on a webpage. It dictates to the page how to handle the content pulled dynamically from the database, such as news, events, etc.
What is word clean up?
The word clean function will remove formatting automatically inserted by MS Word documents into the Content Editor. If you cut and paste word documents into the Content Editor you should use this tool to clean up the text.
How do I use the word clean up?
After pasting the content from Word document in the HTML Editor simply click on the Word icon.
Why can't I change the fonts and colours in the content editor?
Fonts and colours are pre-defined during the development of your website. This ensures that your site follows a consistent style and design throughout.
What is the insert sci-fi item icon for?
This icon allows you to insert an image or a link to internal web pages or a link to PDF files that are already on the CMS tree.
How do I add a file into the content area?

- Click on the insert sci-fi item icon
- A pop up window will appear with the CMS tree within it.
- Click on the file you wish to add

- You may wish to create a collection for all your uploaded files. (See What is a collection?)
- Complete the form and click browse to look within your computer hard drive for the file you wish to upload.
- Click submit to upload this file to your tree
Can I resize my image once added to the Content Editor?
Yes, you can resize an image once added to the Content Editor by holding the mouse over the handles on the image. The mouse arrow will become double ended arrow where you can then drag the image to resize.
It is good practice to re-size the image before uploading.
I have added an image to the Content Editor, but I can't see it on the website when I browse to the page.
Make sure the image is of type .gif or .jpeg or .jpg. Go to the SiteFramework Lite and find the image in the image collection edit and view the image.
If the image displays correctly then re-submit and try again.
How can I add an email link or an external web address to the Content Editor?

- A dialogue box will appear. Select the type of the link you are adding
- Enter the link
- Enter the text for the link.
- Select New window for Target if you wish it open in a new window.
What is the Meta tag keyword on SiteFramework nodes?
Meta tag keywords are for the search engines like Google to find and return the page on the basis of the used keywords. Add the words that you wish to return the page when searched by search engines.
Separate them by a coma. Try not to go over the top. More than twenty keywords is not really necessary.
What is the Meta tag Description on SiteFramework nodes?
It refers to the description that search engines include under the links that they find. You can use your own description. This could be a very short, clear paragraph to introduce your organisation or the article on the page.
I would like to add a news item but don't know how
For the news to display there must be a correct template and hierarchy present on the tree.
- Add a webpage to the website node
- Select template News
- Add a webpage to the page you just created
- Select template ArchivedNews
- For better presentation add a collection for year e.g. 2008
- Add a collection for month beneath it e.g. March
- Add a News item to this node.
If the hierarchy is already in place locate the relevant month collection, and add the news.
What is a forwarder?
A forwarder creates user friendly names or aliases for the links.
There are 2 ways of creating a forwarder, if the page already exists add a forwarder and put the title in the Node text box and then enter the relative URL of the page in the URL field or box.
If you are adding a page to the forwarder then, add a forwarder, give it a node text, leave the URL box blank and submit. Add a webpage to this as a child node. In this case the URL of the webpage will be followed.
Note – Normally forwarders or Friendly URLs are added in a collection called Friendly URLs. If there isn’t already one in place, create one first.
What is a relative URL?
URL, whose location is specified relative to the address of the base document in which the URL resides.
E.g. /aboutus is a relative URL to www.myweb.com/aboutus

What is meant by dimensions field on the Site Configuration section?
Many computer screens used to display only 800x600 pixels in one full screen and if the size of the web page was larger then there was a need to scroll to see the rest of the page. Now computer screens use higher resolution and 1024x768 has become the norm to use.
Select the preferred size for your website here.
What is meant by colour scheme?
There are different colour schemes you can select from for your website. The colour will be used to paint the main navigation back ground and the news title back ground and so on.

What is the font size and why is it in percentage format?
The font size sets the size of the font for the text throughout your website. When you select 75% for example, you are dictating to the system to display the fonts relative to the default font size of the browser. So 75% means; 75% of the size of the default size value of the browser font size.
